Stop Quarrying! Woman Airs Sentiments To President Duterte While Slamming Naga Officials

Typhoon Ompong as the strongest to hit the country this year left the entire Luzon and affected the Visayas devastated. Apart from Baguio and Ilocos which are greatly hit, Naga City, Cebu was also visited by President Rodrigo, Duterte.

After the typhoon hit the PAR, he made visits to areas and cities to reach out to the people. A great effort that no President did in the past.

Stop The Quarrying

The beloved president of most Filipinos checked in on an evacuation site in Cebu where he did not just promise providing help and relief but entertained questions that people wanted to clear about.

One woman presented herself and aired her sentiments about quarrying, mentioning Apo cement. She generally talks about quarrying which is the root cause of landslides and flashfloods experienced by her fellow Bisaya after Ompong.

MIA Local Officials

She calls out on the missing in action local government officials who are far better than making promises to take care of the town but can’t be found in times of dire need.

The woman finds a hope to be heard on behalf of her fellow kababayans as they voice out their grievances to President Duterte.

Days Before Quarrying

Wayback when mining is not yet a business in the region, there is no disaster event that happened as far as they can remember. Even strong typhoons back then can’t bring down the ground.

But then, as quarrying became a business for the oligarchs, it just didn’t slowly kill the environment but endangers the lives of the people as well.

Today, when typhoons are being expected, they no longer can eat right and sleep soundly as they don’t feel safe anymore. The woman calls out to stop the quarrying and according to her, it is all they wanted.

People watching supports the woman’s plea, cheering for her as she bravely submits their claims to Duterte.
